Lorenzo's South has a unique story. It begins 22 years ago with Dave and Nancy Illott of Enderby, BC, Canada. Dave and Nancy had a sense of adventure, and enjoyed traveling in Mexico during the winter months, but were soon discouraged by the crowded tourist resorts, so they set out on a mission to find a special place where they could truly relax and experience the Mexico they loved. After years of searching the back roads of Mexico for the perfect location, they found Teacapán, bought some beachfront property, and set about building a lovely house surrounded by walled gardens. Dave and Nancy enjoyed sharing their beautiful place with many friends who wanted a fantastic Mexican get-away. It was then called Mexico Tranquilo.
Tragedy struck in 2013 when Dave was involved in a serious accident in which he suffered brain trauma leaving him debilitated. Shortly after his accident Nancy fell ill and passed away. Dave has been recovering in a care facility in Enderby. Now Dave would like to spend some time in Mexico during the winter, and share his residence with guests, so he has enlisted the help of friends, Lorne and Lynda to promote and manage the rental of his 5 apartment residence during the winter. Lorne is a seasoned veteran of the hospitality business and is the proprietor of Lorenzo's Cafe (lorenzoscafe.com), a unique restaurant and music venue located in the North Okanagan, near Enderby, BC, Canada. Lynda is an accomplished artist from Enderby, who paints in oils. Her work is held in numerous private collections across Western Canada (lyndamegli.com). Lorne and Lynda have accepted the challenge of turning Dave's place into a vacation destination for people looking for an authentic Mexican respite from northern winters. The relaxed ambiance Lorenzo's Cafe is known for, will now be found at Lorenzo's South!!
